Seven Fairy Mountain

9km to the northeast of Baoting County is Baoting National Rainforest Park. The Seven Fairy Mountain is right in the park as one of the famous scenic spots on Hainan Island. The mountain¡¯s elevation is 1126 meters above the sea level. There are seven stones erecting on the top of the mountain, just like seven fingers pointing to the sky, so is called Seven-Finger Mountain by local people. During the noon time, the majestic statues of the stones look like seven swords as the mist is dispelled. To look from a long distance, the seven peaks look like seven beautiful ladies, standing in thin veils, so come with the name of Seven Fairy Mountain.

There are numerous waterfalls scattered in the rainforest with inhabiting little creatures such as crabs, small fish and so on. Every now and then, you can see beautiful butterflies flying over your head. At the same time you can watch the spiders weaving its nets, and hear the singing of certain insects. Winding through the forest, you can take a rest as there are small huts and stone benches placed by the locals or you can wash your sweating face in the water ponds to get rid of your fatigue.

Where is Wuzhishan/Five Finger Mountain/Tongza on Hainan Island

Wuzhishan is located in the middle of Hainan Island with a total area of 1130 square kilometers. It takes 2 hours by local express bus from Sanya , The total population of Wuzhishan is around 110 thousand, with around 60% of the total population being ¡°Li¡± People, which a Minority in China, Han people make up the Majority of the population of China.

Wuzhishan is a new name. Before 2001, this place was called Tongza which in local Li Language means ¡°Rice field on the top of a mountain surrounded by rainforest .¡± The Li Language expressed the location of the community. In 2001, the local government changed the name from Tongza to Wuzhishan because of Wuzhishan Mountain which is the highest mountain on Hainan Island and also a major symbol of the Island.
